We have now had over 2000 kids on our Activity Camps

Welcome to a typical day at The Hub...

Campers

A day at The Hub starts at a leisurely pace (these are teenagers after all…!) Upon arrival kids are asked to sign in and sign our code of conduct that reflects our behavioural expectations. They’re then told which team they’re in for the week, and introduced to some of their team mates.  Next they have a choice of activities to be getting on with, such as pool, table tennis, computer games, playing guitars and more.  We find this is a great chance to break the ice and meet new friends – pairing up for a game of pool or Mario Kart is a sure fire way to get chatting!  During this time they also need to sign up for their two morning activities.

At 9.30am we go through the plan for the day, including checking everyone has the right stuff for any trips we may be going on.  Then it’s the reveal of the “team daily challenge”, and the teams are given a five minute window to discuss ideas for the challenge before moving off to activities. After a short break at around 10.45am, kids swap to their second activity (or stay in the same activity if they choose to) through ‘til lunch at 12.30pm.

1pm, and its team practise time!  Maybe the task is a comedy sketch, cheerleading routine or even a team dance… (here’s the winning dance from last camp!)

Afternoons are when we do our whole group activities and trips.  Each week we go to the swimming pool, cinema and go on a mystery trip! There are also Dodgeball tournaments, “Kids choice movies” (in St Paul’s school hall on the big screen!), wide games out on the fields and much more.

Each day is rounded off with the team challenge, performed to a panel of VIP judges (i.e. the Camp Manager, a member of the office or premises staff… no expense spared!) and points are allocated to the teams for originality, humour and most importantly effort!  The winning team at the end of the week wins a great prize, and the worship and admiration of their fellow campers... Ahem.

Collection is from 4pm onwards, when kids can relax and chat with new friends or challenge each other (or the teachers!) to a game or two of pool or table tennis or cards… then it’s home for (hopefully) a good night’s sleep!
