Pioneer PE Activity Camps (4 - 11 year olds)
This is our Camp for Primary School children.
Kids in Years 3-6 can choose from either Sports & Games or Arts & Crafts for a morning, afternoon or all day. Children in Reception, Years 1 & 2 take part in our "Activity Carousel" - a mixture of the different activities (see below for more info).
Sports and Games
We love sports and games!! Our teachers provide the kids with lots of exciting sports and games to play in hour long sessions.
We play traditional sports such as cricket, football, rounders etc but with a twist... for example, cricket becomes "4- way cricket", a game of 4 batsmen, 4 sets of stumps and 4 wicket keepers! Our emphasis is always on keeping all the kids involved in the game, to ensure they have the best time possible.
Our games include lots of variations on hide and seek games, chase games, capture the flag games and of course... Dodgeball games!! Dodgeball has provided the basis for many different exciting games on Camp such as "Slamball", "Mrs Amerio's Benchball" and many more.
Don't forget, every day we end with the Dodgeball Classic - can the teachers restore order and start beating the kids again?!! (We certainly hope so - Ed)
Arts & Crafts
Our team of teachers and teaching assistants provide children with a wide variety of Arts and Crafts activities during each day. Children can try their hand at sewing, model making, free drawing, painting, weaving, making puppets... the list is endless!
Each session the teachers provide the children with a main theme and an alternative, ensuring kids never repeat an activity. We like to send the kids home with as many of their fantastic creations as they can - so prepare some space on the fridge!
"Activity Carousel" - for children in aged 4-7.
During our last couple of camps we have been trialling a new way of organising the activities for kids who are aged 4 - 7. Our experience has taught us that (just like in school) these kids enjoy a variety of activities more than the same thing all morning. So we have changed the way we organise Camp for kids in Reception, Year 1 & 2, to give them a morning or afternoon of three activities, chosen from; Sports, Arts, Adventure games, Construction/Free play and much more*. Children spend around 40 minutes on each activity, and the feedback from both children and parents has been great! The kids really like the variety and the change in activity, and it has been very effective in getting more passive kids to be active for some of the morning, and to give those kids who never stop running a bit of a break!
Don't forget the Lego...
At Pioneer PE, we love Lego! That's why we have a big box of it on each camp and encourage the kids to build and create as much as possible. Lego is always available for a "chill-out" activity for kids needing a breather or who have finished their latest work of art. In fact, in the past we have had kids (who were otherwise reluctant to attend any holiday camp) play Lego all day and go home happy and content with their days work! We love Lego!!
